Another great holiday. Other travel companies take note!!
We have now finished our second Viking Cruise in Europe. I wish every travel company looked after you this way. Nothing is too much trouble and they look after you so well from picking you up at the airport to delivering you back with a member of staff guiding you through check in at a foreign airport. Food is great, Excursions are well planned and customers are looked after from start to finish. 10 out of ten every time. We loved it so much were coming back for another next year!!

WARNING!!
WARNING!!! To all Viking passengers traveling to Spain (or other European locations), if you are tested COVID-19 positive you will be mandatory quarantined for 7 days. This means that you will be “jailed” in a room with no reading material, no television in English or anyone who cares about your well being. You will be fed what and when they decide you will get. They can feed dinner as late as 10:30 P.M. Not sound so bad? It’ll seem bad if you were served lunch at 1:00 P.M. and you have NOTHING else in your space to eat or occupy your time. Viking intentionally doesn’t warn passengers of this pitfall. If you follow all their requests you still might be tested positive and be “jailed”. After I paid for the cruise i was then informed of their requirements. Within 1 day I asked for a refund but was denied. Remember, these requirements never warned of a positive test resulting in imprisonment. I believe that Viking realizes if Americans know of this detail that they would never option to cruise with Viking. They deceived me and others. Viking will tell you that you were informed of potential quarantine prison on page 7 of 19 in the standard terms & agreement fine print. However, this is not true. Page 7 states that you will be denied passage. It doesn’t warn about “prison”.

Awful facilities if you're not able bodied.
I made an initial enquiry regarding facilities for a family member that had mobility issues and may have needed to take a wheelchair on board. I was appalled at the response which was along the lines of, staff will not help you with moving the chair down the stairs even though the on-board lifts don't travel to all the floors. Also, it may not be possible to leave the ship on excursions in certain ports as you would have to disembark across several moored ships (not possible with a wheelchair) due to the way ships are moored to each other. Sounds like Viking are only interested in able bodied guests. Having read some of the other reviews I'm more than happy to spend my money with another operator that has a more positive attitude to less able bodied customers.

No Viking deposit refund option
My Wife and I made a booking for a Viking baltics cruise in September 2019 (i.e. pre Covid). We paid a $3,000 deposit at that time. Following the advent of Covid and given that I have a pnuemonia related permanent lung condition, we decided it wise to cancel not only this cruise however to avoid cruising in future following what has transpired re the Covid pandemic. However Viking would only offer a future cruise credit with no deposit refund option, even following my providing them with a medical certificate as supporting evidence of my lung condition. Form your own opinion however risky indeed investing in a cruise with this company !

Because of the pandemic we pushed our cruise from March 2020 to September 2021. Unbeknown to me, they put 75% of my funds in vouchers ($15,000). I tried to cancel the 2021 cruise and they would not refund my total cost. I still have $15,000 in vouchers that I do not plan on using. Vouchers are only good for 2 years. So I’m out of $15k with no recourse other than go on a cruise that I don’t want to do. Also, we took out insurance for something like this. They said I could cancel at any time and be fully refunded. But when I pusher the first cruise, I got screwed. They will not work with anyone who may have the absolute need for a full refund. This is very poor customer relations and a bad business practice. I HATE VIKING!

Six adults took a river cruise from…
Six adults took a river cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam. The cruise stopped at Passau Germany because of low water. They offered us the completion of the tour on busses which my wife & I took. On the boat, we had a suite but on the bus tour, we had an ordinary room. The cost of the Suite was double a single room $10,000 vs $20,000. Some people who had a suite on the boat were given an equivalent room on the bus tour. We were not but told by the cruise director that on your return home call Viking and they will be generous. I called my Travel Agent and she said they will not offer you anything. I personally called Viking and they stonewalled me and gave me nothing. BUYER BEWARE in the summer the river is either too high or too low and both cause trouble. I called Viking before the cruise and asked about the water issue. They told me it was ok to travel on the river which was a complete lie. Remember you are just cattle on these cruises once they get your money there is no getting it back

158 DAYS WAITING FOR REFUND
158 DAYS WAITING FOR REFUND Booking Ref: V5475506 Legal action about to commence. Our River Cruise was cancelled at the end of March. It was booked through Iglu Cruises on behalf of Viking. This is causing great stress on our family and does not reflect well on Viking. Who has got our money? David Falconer

Thank you for all your efforts for getting my parents home safe and sound xx
I would just like to say how grateful I am with how much effort/care was put into looking after my parents and getting them home to the UK after the whole ship was put into 14 days quarantine in Cambodia when another passenger on their river cruise tested positive for the COVID-19.
